Another refashioned skirt from my stash this week! I’ve had this elastic waisted skirt from the thrift store for a while, I have even worn it a few times, but the frumpy-ness of the style was not working for me. I just love the fabric! So I decided to turn it into a wrap skirt, perfect for spring.
It was a pretty big skirt so the elastic made it bunchy in all the wrong places. So first, I used a seam-ripper to take the elastic out.
Then I ironed out that edge to make it flat.
Next, I cut it along one seam. I then folded each raw edge over twice and sewed down. That mean the two freshly cut sides and the top edge were I previously picked the seam out.
After that, I used coordinating thread and bias tape as the strings to tie around my waist. I used enough to have about 1 foot hang off of each end and sewed it down.

The skirt fits so much better and this refashion took less than half an hour!
