My very first refashion and I didn’t even know what refashioning was. Back in high school I took an old bridesmaids dress of my mothers and fixed it up to wear to prom. Little did I know, I had a bigger future in refashioning clothes!
Scroll through these photos as a fun throwback to my very first refashion. I am sorry there is not really a tutorial but I can easily explain how we made this dress fashionable for prom.
Before & After
How I did it:
First was the lacey sweater looking thing. It was a thing you wore over the dress and buttoned down the back.
After taking it off, we (by we, I mean my mother) sewed two pieces of elastic sequins together. Think of it as a double wide waist band.
Then she basted it loosely to the dress so it would stretch with the dress while dancing the night away.
That was it! My very first refashion, with major help from my mom! Not only did she give me her super styling dress, she fixed it up for me at the last minute (literally right before we took pictures).
P.S. This is one of my all time favorite pictures.
I'd love to see more prom dress refashions! Prom season is upon us. Leave me a comment below of what you think!
